Physics 6 Tutorial 8 - Polarisation

Home

Summary

In this tutorial we will look at how polarised light arises.  We will go on study crossed polaroids and discuss Malus' Law.  We consider some uses of polarised light, including Liquid Crystal Displays.  We then go on to consider a special case of polarisation in Brewster's Law.  Then we consider birefringence, and how polarised light can be used to model stress in thin samples of transparent material
